Pastor and First Lady

Elder and First Lady Johnson

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (Matthew 28:19, 20 KJV)

Dwight D. Johnson was born Nov 4, 1968 to James and Arthurine Johnson in Montgomery, AL. In 1996, he accepted the call God placed on his heart to preach the Gospel. He worked as an associate minister at Original Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church until he was called to pastor New Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Sardis, AL. Pastor Johnson served as the shepherd from 1999-2003, where under his leadership the church grew spiritually, financially, and physically.

In 2004, he began his quest at entrepreneurship- starting a business called Rebuilt Auto. Rebuilt Auto became another vehicle for the ministry of delivering God’s word. While building the business, God placed him in a position where he was able to provide counseling and spiritual guidance to young men and women- thus spun the Rebuilt Entrepreneur Pilot Program. This program is designed to teach young men the art of starting and maintaining a business from the ground up; in a career that is deemed high demand and high wage by the Department of Labor.

After graduating from high school, Dwight Johnson enlisted in the US Army reserves and attended Alabama State University for a time. He then went full time into the United States Army where he attended the University of Maryland. While serving in the United States Army in Germany, he met the former Cheryl Lynn Smith.

Mrs. Cheryl Johnson is a native of Memphis, TN. She met Dwight Johnson while they were both stationed at Neu Ulm, Germany in 1989. In 1991, they were married and stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. After serving in the U.S. Army for four years, she decided to exit military service, receiving an honorable discharge.

On the advice of her mother-in-law, Mrs. Johnson attended Trenholm State Technical College in order to sit for licensure as a Practical Nurse. She has subsequently furthered her education by receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and is now studying to receive a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration. Pastor and Sis. Johnson have been married for 21 years and are the proud parents of three children: Delando James, Sherilyn Monet, and Alexandria Lynnette Johnson.

Now begins the vision: Mt. Gillard Missionary Baptist Church.
